OUR TERMS, SERVICES AND PRICES

DragonStone Technologies - Terms and Conditions of Service

General Terms: To avoid any confusion, the use of first-person pronouns such as “we” or “us” is explicitly defined as DragonStone Technologies, a locally owned and operated business serving Greenville, Ohio, and surrounding areas. Second-person pronouns such as “you” or “your” refer to the Client.

Scope of Services: DragonStone Technologies offers a comprehensive range of computer services, including but not limited to: computer repair, diagnostics, data recovery, custom PC builds, standard PC maintenance, GPU repasting and cleaning, computer tune-ups, virus and malware removal, software installation and configuration, and custom water cooling solutions. Our services are performed by experienced professionals with a strong emphasis on quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.

  1. Service Agreement and Authorization

All services typically begin with an initial consultation and/or estimate. By engaging DragonStone Technologies for any of the services outlined herein, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Following the initial consultation, a detailed invoice or service agreement outlining the requested services and applicable fees will be provided. Work will not commence until the agreement is acknowledged or approved by the Client, which may include a signature or other form of explicit consent. The Client authorizes DragonStone Technologies to perform the requested services on their computer system, components, or data storage device as described in the agreed-upon service agreement or invoice.

2. Custom Build Policy

Each custom-built computer system from DragonStone Technologies is designed to meet the Client's specific performance requirements and budget. Prior to the commencement of the build, a detailed list of all purchased components, including their market price at the time of order and applicable taxes, along with any build fees, will be provided to the Client for review and approval.

Build Fee: A base assembly and installation fee of $90 applies to standard custom builds. More complex or themed builds may incur a higher build fee, which will be disclosed and agreed upon with the Client prior to the start of work. We also offer a budget build package with a $60 build fee for systems under $1500 that can be completed, tested, and tuned within one day. Our preconfigured or prebuilt tiers, named after gemstones or minerals, include a $60 build fee in their price, with the exception of the Dragons Bloodstone Tier 6, which has a custom build fee of $150 factored in. Build fees are payable upon completion of the build and Client satisfaction with the demonstration before pickup or delivery.

Operating System: Unless otherwise explicitly requested by the Client, all custom-built systems will be delivered with Microsoft Windows 11 Home. The cost of the Windows 11 license ($150 for Home, $215 for Pro) will be clearly stated in the invoice.

Component Quality: DragonStone Technologies primarily uses new components in all custom builds unless explicitly discussed and agreed upon with the Client. In the event used parts are requested, they will only be sourced from trusted retailers (e.g., Amazon, Newegg, Jawa (limited), or local stores), and this will be clearly documented.

Component Pricing: Pricing for components is based on the market price at the time of order, not the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). We do not apply an upcharge beyond the cost of the parts as they appear on the market, and the applicable marketplace tax will be included in the itemized receipt. The total cost of components must be paid upfront before any parts are ordered or work begins on the build.

2. Component & Build Warranties

Component Warranty: Individual hardware components included in a custom-built system are covered solely by the warranties offered by their respective manufacturers. The Client is responsible for understanding and handling manufacturer warranty claims directly. However, DragonStone Technologies can, upon request and for systems we have built, offer reasonable assistance as a bridge of communication between the Client and the manufacturer to facilitate the warranty claim process.

Build Warranty: DragonStone Technologies provides a four (4) year diagnostic and repair warranty on all computer systems built by us. This warranty covers defects in workmanship related to the assembly of the system and issues directly resulting from the Windows operating system installation performed by DragonStone Technologies. Users are encouraged to explore and upgrade their systems; however, if an issue arises, transparency regarding the cause is required and appreciated. If damage occurs due to user actions (e.g., improper overclocking), the cost of replacement parts may be the Client's responsibility, but the diagnosis and installation of the replacement part will be covered under this build warranty. If a component is covered under its own manufacturer's RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization), DragonStone Technologies will install the replacement component free of charge as part of this diagnostic and repair warranty, provided the system was originally built by us.

Limitations of Build Warranty: This build warranty does not cover:

  • Physical damage or damage resulting from accidents, misuse, neglect, or improper handling by the Client.

  • Damage caused by power surges or other electrical issues beyond our control.

  • Issues arising from third-party software, hardware, or peripherals not installed or recommended by DragonStone Technologies.

  • Data loss of any kind. The Client is solely responsible for backing up their data.

  • Customer-attempted repairs or modifications that cause further damage.

  • Water damage or damage from other environmental factors.

  • Pre-existing conditions or damage to the Client's components prior to our service.

3. Repair, Diagnostics, and Maintenance Services

General: Diagnostic and repair services are provided with the understanding that depending on the work desired, these services could void individual component warranties. DragonStone Technologies will inform the Client if this is a potential risk before proceeding with the service.

Basic Diagnostics: $30 - $60. Includes basic virus scans and memory cleanup procedures.

Advanced Diagnostics: $60 - $120. Includes more involved troubleshooting, along with the services offered in the Basic Diagnostics package. A diagnostic assessment is required to determine the feasibility and cost of data recovery and is subject to this advanced diagnostic fee. Diagnostics may take anywhere from 1 to 72 hours depending on the complexity and scope of the issue. Clients will be updated periodically on the status via their preferred contact method.

Hourly Repair Rate: $45 - $80 per hour. The specific rate within this range will be determined based on the complexity of the repair and is at the technician's discretion. This rate is applied in addition to any diagnostic fees. Tracked hours are rounded to the nearest hour for billing purposes.

Standard PC Maintenance: $90. Includes full dusting with a data vac, partial disassembly for deep cleaning, and CPU repasting (using Noctua NT-H1 unless otherwise requested). For heavily soiled or stained PCs, the base price is $150. If the cleaning process takes longer than four (4) hours, an hourly repair rate of $45 will apply for each additional hour. Routine maintenance is encouraged every 6–12 months for optimal performance, especially for systems with heavy usage or pets in the household. This service is not covered under any warranty.

DragonStone PC Maintenance (For PCs built by us): $30 - $50. Price is based on the size and complexity of the build. If cleaning takes longer than four (4) hours, an hourly repair rate of $45 will apply for each additional hour. Discounted cleaning/maintenance services are available for returning customers with DragonStone-built PCs.

GPU Repasting and Cleaning: $200. Includes disassembly, replacement of thermal pads, and a thorough dusting and cleaning of every part of the GPU.

Computer Tune-Up (Software Optimization): $50 - $80 + $35 per hour after the first two (2) hours. This service includes software optimization, virus/malware scans, system and driver updates, running utilities such as CCleaner/REVO Uninstaller, installing Fan Control, and BIOS tuning. This is a software performance improvement package and not a hardware repair. If viruses or unwanted rooted program issues are found, an additional $30 fee may apply.

Virus/Malware Removal: $40 - $175. This service is provided on a best-effort basis, and DragonStone Technologies cannot guarantee the complete removal of all malicious software.

Software Installation/Configuration: $20 for basic software installation. Additional costs may apply if setup, licensing configuration, or extensive customization is required. The Client is responsible for providing valid software licenses.

Data Transfer: $20 upfront fee, plus $15 per hour for the time taken, with the total hourly charge rounded to the nearest hour (e.g., 4 hours and 24 minutes will be billed as 4 hours, while 4 hours and 34 minutes will be billed as 5 hours).

4. Data Recovery Services

Data Recovery Assessment: A diagnostic assessment is required to determine the feasibility and cost of data recovery. This assessment is subject to the Advanced Diagnostic Fee as outlined in the "Repair, Diagnostics, and Maintenance Services" section.

Recoverable Data: DragonStone Technologies specializes in recovering data from logical failures, accidental file deletion, and damaged partitions. In cases of mechanical failures, such as a damaged hard drive motor or read/write head, data recovery may still be possible but is typically more complex and expensive.

Non-Recoverable Data: DragonStone Technologies does not guarantee data recovery in cases of severe mechanical damage (e.g., broken heads, motor failure), extensive physical damage (e.g., fire, water), or data encryption failures where the decryption key is lost. In such cases, data recovery is often not feasible.

Data Integrity: While DragonStone Technologies strives to recover data with integrity, we are not responsible for any data corruption that may occur during the recovery process.

Pricing: The cost of data recovery services is dependent on the nature and complexity of the data loss and the recovery process. Typically, the cost is around $200, plus the initial Advanced Diagnostic Fee. The success of data recovery depends entirely on the specific circumstances of the data loss.

Storage Media: The Client is responsible for providing suitable external storage media for the recovered data. DragonStone Technologies offers storage devices for purchase, with prices varying based on storage capacity (e.g., a 500GB SSD for $35).

Liability: Due to the inherent risks and complexities of data recovery, DragonStone Technologies is not liable for any consequential damages resulting from data loss or failed recovery attempts, nor are we liable for the content or integrity of any data that is recovered.

5. Returns & Refunds

Due to the personalized nature of custom-built computer systems and the diagnostic-based nature of our services, all sales of custom-built computers and all service fees are generally final and non-refundable. Each custom system is uniquely tailored to the Client's specifications, making traditional returns unfeasible.

Component Issues: Any issues with individual components of a custom-built system are to be addressed directly through the warranty provided by the original manufacturer (OEM/RMA process). DragonStone Technologies will offer reasonable assistance, for systems we have built, in initiating these warranty claims, which may include providing purchase information, helping the Client submit an RMA, and, when possible, offering temporary donor parts to minimize system downtime. DragonStone Technologies is not liable for OEM delays, lost packages during the RMA process, or the manufacturer's final decisions regarding warranty approvals or rejections.

Exceptions: Partial refunds or service fee adjustments may be considered only in limited circumstances, such as if work has not yet begun and no components have been ordered. Once components are ordered and work on a custom build or a service has commenced, all associated costs are typically locked in. Any exceptions to this policy will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and any decisions made by DragonStone Technologies regarding refunds or adjustments are final.

6. Service Timeframe & Delivery

Build Time: Estimated build times for custom PCs may vary depending on the availability of components and the complexity of the build. Generally, the estimated completion time is up to three (3) business days after all necessary parts have been received by DragonStone Technologies. Custom water cooling setups typically require additional time, often adding 1.5 to 2 days to the overall project. For custom water-cooled builds, Clients should plan for a potential completion time of up to five (5) business days after all parts have arrived.

Delivery Limitations: DragonStone Technologies currently offers delivery services only within a fifty (50) mile radius of Greenville, Ohio. Eligibility for delivery based on the Client's zip code can be verified on our website (if applicable). Delivery is performed as a direct hand-off from DragonStone Technologies personnel to the Client at their specified location; we do not ship computers via mail or third-party couriers.

Delivery Fees & Setup: A base delivery fee of $20 applies to all deliveries within our service radius. For distances beyond ten (10) miles (one-way) from Greenville, Ohio, an additional charge of $0.55 per mile will be added to the base delivery fee. Standard installation and setup upon delivery (connecting the computer tower to an existing monitor, keyboard, and mouse) is an additional flat rate of $20. If a more comprehensive setup is required, such as setting up an entire desk and peripherals, the fee is $20 plus an hourly rate of $30 per hour. The scope of the required installation and setup should be discussed and agreed upon prior to delivery to ensure adequate time is allotted. Clients requiring display cables or other basic accessories should mention these needs before finalizing the sale.

7. Component Pricing & Payment

Component Pricing Policy: The pricing for computer components is based on the prevailing market price at the time of the order placement, and not on the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). DragonStone Technologies does not apply any upcharge or markup beyond the actual cost of the components as they are listed on the market. Any applicable sales tax from the marketplace where the components are sourced will be included in the itemized receipt provided to the Client.

Payment Policy: Payment for the total cost of all components included in a custom build is required upfront, prior to DragonStone Technologies ordering any parts or commencing work on the build. Service charges, labor fees, and any applicable delivery or setup fees are due upon completion of the service, either at the time of pickup or delivery of the system, unless alternative arrangements have been made and agreed upon in writing between DragonStone Technologies and the Client. Accepted payment methods include:

  • Cards with Magstripes

  • Google Pay

  • PayPal

  • CashApp

  • Cash

  • Online invoicing

Personal checks are not accepted.

8. Custom Water Cooling

Build Time: Custom water cooling setups require significant additional time beyond a standard PC build. Clients should anticipate an extra 1.5 to 2 days added to the overall project timeline. Therefore, the estimated completion time for custom water-cooled systems is typically up to five (5) business days after all necessary water cooling components and standard PC parts have been received by DragonStone Technologies.

Pricing: The labor cost for custom water cooling services is billed at an hourly rate of $65 per hour, in addition to a flat build fee of $150 specifically for the complexity involved in custom loop design and installation. The Client is also responsible for the full cost of all custom water cooling components required for the build.

Watercooling Considerations: Due to the increased time, cost, and complexity associated with custom water cooling setups, DragonStone Technologies advises Clients who are seeking simpler and quicker cooling solutions to consider all-in-one (AIO) liquid coolers, where feasible (note: AIO coolers are not typically compatible with high-end configurations such as AMD Threadripper systems). A custom water loop is ideally suited for performance enthusiasts who understand the requirements for more complex planning and ongoing maintenance.

9. Disclaimers and Liability Limitations

Pre-Existing Conditions: DragonStone Technologies is not responsible for any pre-existing conditions or damage to the Client's computer system, components, or data storage device that were present before our services were engaged.

Hardware Limitations & Used Parts: The Client acknowledges that older hardware may impose limitations on software compatibility and system performance. While DragonStone Technologies will install virtually any hardware requested by the Client, we only source used parts at the Client's explicit request and only from reputable retailers (e.g., Amazon, Newegg, Jawa (limited), or local stores), not from private individuals. DragonStone Technologies also maintains a limited inventory of used parts, a list of which can be provided upon request. We are not responsible for any issues arising from the limitations or potential unreliability of older or used hardware.

Liability Limitation: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of DragonStone Technologies for any claim arising out of or related to our services shall be limited to the total amount paid by the Client for the specific services rendered. DragonStone Technologies shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption, regardless of the cause of action, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Right to Refuse Service: DragonStone Technologies reserves the right to refuse service to any Client in the event of suspected tampering with equipment, unsafe operating conditions of the equipment, abusive or inappropriate behavior towards our staff, or any other reason deemed necessary to protect our business and personnel.

10. Data & Privacy Disclaimer

Client Data Responsibility: The Client is solely responsible for backing up all critical data stored on their computer system or devices before engaging DragonStone Technologies for any services. 11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

Governing Law: This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Ohio.
